Tour of the man cave....

Well I have talked about it a few times but never really shown this room. So I thought I would give you a little tour of the "Man Cave" so here goes.....

So these first few pictures are different angels of the area where we have a living room set up. You can see Henry's big screen that my sister gave us when they bought a newer model. You also can see the rug we got him for fathers day. The navy pillows on the couch I found at Ross they are huge and I only paid $4 each for them. I love that store.

This is a picture looking at the office area which is a cubby of piles really. On the wall is mine and Henry's awards from high school and before and also Zack's. Unlike his brother Zack doesn't want his all over his room.

This wall is above the couch. It has Henry's coaches plaques. Some are from years ago and some are recent. The pictures are from the last several years with CHS.

So this is Henry's weight bench that I got him for Christmas. If you could see it daily you would see all the dust from lack of use. Also the cast iron wood stove with the wonderful brick hearth that made me fall in love with this space. This is also our only source of heat downstairs.

This is the boys trophy case from the time Zack was 5 to the present. I am very proud of them....

This is our make shift library. I really need to find a bigger bookshelf. If you will notice the carrier on top of the shelf Henry used to work at NNS. He was a shipfitter. He loves carriers and anything to do with them.

So these are pics of the man cave bathroom still being updated. If any of you come across anything in our area that will go with the nautical theme I am building let me know.....

So this picture is the little hallway outside the bathroom goin back into our storage area that really has the potential to be another bedroom it also goes into my laundry room. The reason for this picture I would like you to notice the picture of the Duke on the wall.....

While we love having this space for Henry we want to replace the dark paneling with sheetrock and fresh paint and eventually replace the carpet and tiled floor... I will add that to my dream list for my house which is getting very long....

God bless....

Family gathering...

So today someof Henry's family gathered at my mother and father in laws home for a cookout. At this point there is something like 106 or so of us. I think today there was around 30 or so of us there. It was nice. ... Henry's grandmother was diagnosed a little over a year or so ago with Alzhiemers. The big dinners that we have twice a year have become a bit much at times so we do smaller gatherings so I thought I would share a few of the pictures from our day and these great people.

Henry's man cave addition

So father's day has come and gone. When we bought our home last year we had a finished basement. I along with dear hubby made an agreement. Living with all guys you don't get much girly stuff. So Henry and I agreed that he would take the downstairs living area which consists of an office, a full bath and closet and covert it into a "Man Cave". I would take the upstairs living room and make it as girly as I wanted. Works for me.... So being that Henry is a football fanatic It is decorated with all football stuff. It has sports stuff from Henry and I when he and I were in high school and things that boys have accumelated since playing sports. Also it has a wall dedicated to his current coaching position. Also we recently got him a 52" tv that my sister gave us.

However this blog is dedicated to his recent cave update. My sister helped me get this. My hubby has loved the VOLS since he was a kid. He remembers this was his first baseball hat he had as a kid. He got to go with a good friend of ours to the Kentucky vs. TN game last fall that went into like 4 or 5 overtimes with the VOLS winning. So when my sister called me to tell me about this TN addition I was excited. His face made it all worth it. So here it is..... If you knew hubby you would understand. I am the football widow......

Redecorating another bathroom

Well today I did some more painting on bathroom number 2, Henry's bathroom, the man cave bathroom. Believe me after those guys there awhile its name fits.

Anyway when we bought the house we knew that the downstairs would mainly be Henry's space. The wallpaper was a bit girly with flowers all over it. But we knew we have to deal with it for awhile.

So on Tuesday I began tearing down wallpaper and I have decided that next time I will save money and hire someone to take it down. Because I do have another bathroom (mine) that has wall paper that I like. Also our front living room has wallpaper. But I like it too. Finally this mornng I got done cleaning the walls and primed them and began to paint. When I started I got scared. I was so worried I had made a mistake with the color. If you will remember I said before I am doing his bathroom nautical. The color I chose can also tie into other intrest in Henry's life. So this (with paint still wet) is the finished product.

I have some minor touchups to do. But I have to pick up a small brush.

So yesterday Zack and I painted his room. Before it was all white and Zack wanted Carolina blue. So here it is.

I also wanted to show you a picture of the sink without all the tape.

There are still 2 more rooms to do. My kitchen and Dylan's room. So check back I will post pictures of those project too. I hope to start on the kitchen Saturday. Dylan's room will probably be last. We are doing a Boston Red Sox thing in his room.....

Redecorating the bathroom

So today I began making the house more ours.... I started with the bathroom. I found the coolest stuff at Lowe's. It is paint to redo your tub, sink and toilet. It is really neat. It actually was really easy to use. The longest part was the prep. They have it in a can you can use brush or roller. I picked the spray cans. Much easier and much faster. I think it made it smoother without having any brish strokes.

So the sink was baby blue as well as the toilet and the tub and tile in the tub. We replaced the toilet last weekend only now it is leaking and I don't know why. Hopefully Henry will get that corrected.

So this is the sink pre paint. I was a little on the iffy side if this was gonna work. So with gloves and mask on I proceeded to paint.
With the bathroom still taped up this is the after product. I WAS SO PLEASED...... I will post more pictures later this week to show the whole bathroom I am stillsearching for somethings to decorate such as towels that I like. I don't want to do too much because I have flowered wall paper.
I am off tomorrow to buy paint for the rest of the house...... I will keep you posted.

Redecorating

Well starting this week I am in the process of redecorating and trying to make this home more us. By fault we just got a new toilet in the upstairs bathroom. My bathroom..... I won't go into it but a simple project became replacing the whole thing. That is ok though it needed to be. I found this really cool refinishing kit and Monday I plan to paint the sink. That is right I said paint. This is specailly designed for tile, tubs and sinks. I plan to post pics next week. I will do before and after as soon as I can. I also finally got all my appliances black, however I am still waiting after a year to get my dishwasher (that is downstairs) installed. That is a whole other blog on its own. Anyway on the advice of Henry's cousin Crystal combined with another friend I am leaving the handles on my kitchen drawers and cabinets. I am going with a deep darker cream called Ponytail on the walls. I then am gonna do the cabinets in a lighter color that I have not 100% decided on. Zacks room we are doing Carolina blue GO TARHEELS... Dyl has decided to do a wide red stripe around the top of his room trimmed in navy and I am gonna paint the Red Sox B on the wall I hope. Lastly I plan to remove the wall paper from the bottom half of Henrys bath downstairs and paint it navy I then plan to decorate in nautical theme. I have started picking up peices here and there. Ross has been great to find things. So hopefully I will have pics up soon.... wish me lcuk
